Whey protein side effects

                      Disadvantages

While whey protein is generally safe and well-tolerated by most people, some individuals may experience side effects. Here are some of the possible side effects of whey protein:

Digestive Issues:

• Some people may experience digestive problems such as bloating, gas, and diarrhea when consuming whey protein.

• This is more common in those who are lactose intolerant or have a sensitive digestive system.

Allergic Reaction:

• Whey protein is derived from milk, so people who are allergic to milk may also be allergic to whey protein.

• Symptoms of an allergic reaction can range from mild to severe, including hives, itching, difficulty breathing, and anaphylaxis.

Kidney Issues:

• According to some research, those who already have renal issues may be more at risk for kidney damage (or) kidney stones if they consume large amounts of protein, particularly whey protein.

• These studies, however, lack clarity, and additional investigation is required.

Acne:

• Consuming whey protein may cause acne outbreaks in certain persons.

 • This is thought to be because whey protein boosts insulin synthesis, which can stimulate the sebaceous glands and cause increased oil production and acne.

Weight Gain:

• To increase muscular mass and strength, many people take whey protein supplements.

 • In contrast, if you consume more calories than you burn, you risk gaining weight in addition to muscle and fat.
